Adults Finally Surface In Auto Bailout
With Senator John Ensign (R-NV) threatening to filibuster the vote on the bill passed by the House of Representatives giving a bridge loan to the 'Big 3' auto companies and Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) proposing a bill that would actually put some teeth in the bailout by forcing concessions on the United Auto Workers union and the bond holders, there are finally some lawmakers with some common sense taking charge of the bailout process. Let's hope they can keep up the good fight.
Update: Unfortunately, Senate majority leader Harry Reid is not one of the adults who surfaced in the Senate. The Senate blocked the vote on the bogus bailout bill which passed in the House of Representatives and Senator Reid (D-NV) refused to allow a vote on the common sense bill proposed by Senate Republicans. Seems the Democrats only wanted to send a parting gift to the UAW before GM went belly-up. The UAW was never serious about saving either General Motors or their jobs.
