Verdict In Bowe Bergdahl

In a decision that rivals the not guilty verdict in the O.J. Simpson murder trial, U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who confessed and plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior in front of the enemy, was merely demoted to private, fined $10,000 and dishonorably discharged. While Bergdahl could have been sentenced to life in prison, the prosecution asked for a prison sentence of 14 years and Bergdahl's defense team asked for no prison time whatsoever.

There are reports that Bergdahl will appeal his dishonorable discharge.

The incredulous decision to impose such a punishment is a slap in the face to all who serve bravely and wear the uniform honorably. The judge, Army Colonel Jeffery Nance, should be ashamed of himself and resign immediately.
