Dan Rather Will Be Going Out In A Baze Of Denial

CBS news anchorman Dan Rather, who is stepping down this week after 24 long years, is still unwilling to admit the documents purporting to indicate President Bush had received preferential treatment when applying for the Texas Air National Guard were forgeries. In an appearance on CBS' Late Night with David Leterman, Dan indicated that given a little more time, he believed that he would have been able to authenticate the documents.

"We were not able to authenticate the documents as thoroughly as I think we should have, given a little more time perhaps we could have."
